The second week of May saw more Teacher Exchange experiences as IC hosted two visiting teachers from the International School of Geneva. From May 8 to 15, Janet Bouwmeester and Duff Gyr visited PYP classes in our Preschools and Elementary Schools on both campuses. Duff even had the opportunity to visit classes in the Middle School where he observed SPEC methods used in a Social Studies lesson and at the Secondary School where he sat in on an extremely interesting book discussion. “The students were so enthusiastic in their contributions to the discussion,” he commented. Besides PYP classes, Janet observed music classes in both Ras Beirut and Ain Aar, enjoying the Elementary students’ presentations on Lebanese Folk Music and Dance. “The atmosphere in the school was very united and the teachers whom I interacted with were highly enthusiastic about their work in the PYP,” wrote Janet. Both Janet and Duff even had the time to visit the LMC where they explored the facility, browsed the books for sale and observed our graduating classes celebrating their last day at school. A highlight of their week at IC was a concert by the Junior Choir led by Mrs. Lydia Sabra which Duff and especially Janet enjoyed thoroughly.
As usual, we made sure that our visitors had the opportunity to visit around Lebanon during their visit. Hosting teachers were able to take Janet and Duff to the caves in Jeita, to visit Jounieh, as well as the crusader castle and the old souk in Saida. “Thank you to everyone, and especially the children for sharing so much of their time with me,” commented Janet during their final day with us.
While Janet and Duff were visiting IC, Ghada Itani, Middle School instructor and counselor, traveled to Toronto, Canada where she visited the Toronto French School. From May 8 – 15, Ghada visited classes in both the Middle and Secondary levels of this beautiful IB school. Ghada was impressed with the school itself and its program as well as the generous hospitality extended to her during her stay.

Here's a good book. Can I check it out?

He found some interesting new acquisitions.
